Hey guys. I'm Juliette and welcome to my blog! Woohoo, if you have reached this page it means a) you're lost on the internet and you're asking yourself who the heck is this freak?, b) you'd like to know more about France, exchange year, food, traveling... me, c) are we related? friends maybe?, d) none of the previous answers which can be either good or bad. Anyway, just to summarize the history of this page : I created this blog a long time ago to share my life as an exchange student in America. Now, I write when I feel like it, about whatever I feel like talking about. My life ain't really intresting but we all have our story and here is part of mine. (Also, sometimes I do write about smart stuff you might be intrested in). Check it out and forgive me whenever I sound foolish or when I make mistakes. This is all personal. Love, Juliette

Bist du fertig?

Publié par Juliette K

Jawohl! Ich bin fertig. I AM DONE... with my first week. ^_^

Short update about my first week in Germany. The good and the bad? What has changed? How is it like here? Any improvement with the language?

We can definetly say that my first week has been though! The work sucks, I clean bedrooms from 8am to about 12am and in the afternoon, I usually clean the pool. That goes on all week long. We have a short "bunch break" at 10:30am and then, no break until 4pm. My collegues are super kind and they all work very well. Most of my female co-workers are from Romenia. The girls speaks very little german so, our interactions are sometimes laughable and sometimes just impossible. I'm trying to learn a few words in romanian. My german collegues are pleasant too. There's also romenian in the kitchen and in service... only one speaks really good english lol.

Other than my daily routine, I have made some changes into my usual habits: I don't eat meat anymore, I have brunch everyday and I don't eat between 11am and 6pm... yes, I have dinner at 6pm! Also, when my work day is over, I hang around the hotel for a little while to speak a little bit german and then, I go straight to my room and study or watch german TV or listen to german podcasts. Anything that can help me improve quickly!

Because, NO, I haven't made any noticeable progress. I did catch up some words or expressions and I think I understand a little better but not much. "Ich komme gleich" and "Bis dann / Bis gleich" has been the last two expressions I learned today. I really am doing my best to get better and switch my work with something better.

Otherwise, life here is good. The beach is splendid and Norderney is a cute little town. I hang out with a couple of romenian friends. Saturday, we danced to clubs until 3am and drunk a few beers. I had a terrific night!

That's all for now, I'll keep you updated with more details später. ;)

Bisou, Juliette
